Review may cover file completeness, outline and drill relationships, stack-up, copper distribution, minimum features, annular rings, via structures, materials, impedance, surface finish, electrical test, inspection, and documentation needs. The depth of review depends on the submitted design and quotation stage.
Typical review topics
DFM is not a single automatic pass/fail statement. Engineering questions should identify the affected feature, the requirement being interpreted, and any proposed adjustment.
- Data completeness and layer mapping
- Trace, spacing, pad, annular-ring, drill, and edge relationships
- Stack-up, copper balance, finished thickness, and material availability
- Blind, buried, microvia, fill, cap, and lamination requirements
- Impedance structures, coupons, test method, and acceptance records
Approval and design responsibility
Any proposed change that affects electrical, mechanical, thermal, or compliance intent should be reviewed by the customer's authorized technical contact. A manufacturability suggestion is not a substitute for product-level design validation.
Next useful step
Final capability, commercial terms, and project records are confirmed against the actual RFQ and written project documents.
